Male reproductive system:
- Testicles: they are responsible for the production of sperm and the male hormone Testosterone.
- Epididymis: where sperm is matured and stored.
- Deferent Ducts (Vas deferens)
- Seminal vesicle
- Prostate gland
The same hormones produced by the hypophysis that stimulate the female cycle work in man. The FSH in man stimulates the production of sperm whereas the LH acts on the production of testosterone.
The testosterone stimulates the maturing of the sperm and the presence of male characteristics. It is also responsible for the sex drive. During ejaculation, the sperm reaches the penis.
Sperm and secretions produced by the seminal vesicle and the prostate gland make up the semen. The production of sperm is lifelong in man.
